Billy and Mieke, a migrant couple from The Netherlands, are the proud owners of the Mako Beach Bar in Paihia.

Billy and Mieke are living proof of how a difficult migration process can lead to realizing a long cherished dream in a new country as brand new permanent residents.




We had the pleasure of meeting Billy and Mieke about 3 years ago when they were traveling New Zealand.
Their migration plans were not going as well as they hoped for and we were fortunate to be able to provide them with some contacts to help them along.
We liked them on the spot, invited them for dinner and they stayed for what was left of the night after a long talk and some bottles of wine and beer.

To make a long story short, Billy and Mieke found their spot in lovely Paihia. Pay them a visit sometime!
